gerald Posted August 31, 2019 at 10:26 AM Share Posted August 31, 2019 at 10:26 AM Hello, Google applied a manual penalty to my site for "Spammy structured markup" "affecting the whole site". In discussions with some Google programmers from the relevant department on Google's help forum they are trying to imply that this was a technical issue with the structured data markup, which is absurd as it was the same structured markup which thousands of other JReviews sites have. Has anyone else using JReviews been given a manual penalty of this kind? I doubt it, but thought I would post here just in case anyone has had a similar experience and managed to get the penalty lifted. It seems like a deliberate ploy to put my site lower down the rankings due to its subject matter (reviews of online pharmacies). I find it really unjust that Google would apply a penalty to me for allegedly breaking one rule because in fact my site is on a subject which they wish to demote from their search results pages.
