Image and layout issues ???

I'm having issues with images in the widgets.  We review Destinations and Products, destinations have sqaure images, and products have odd shapes.  For some reason the images are scaling to squares instead of cropped.

 

I replaced the write reviews button with an image, but it doesn't always display or displays as cut off.

 

And now I'm running into a weird problem where the admin page displays users reviews under the item, but the widget builder on frontend doesn't display user reviews only the overall listing rating.
