blank map

I have searched this problem found a few threads but they don't seem to solve my problem.

 

I need to have geotargeting on, so it automatically shows the users locations in their area.

 

so lets say I am in Los Angelas which is where all the entries are at present time are located with the exception of one in San Diego. 

 

Users in the area of San Diego and Los Angeles see the map as it should be displayed, but users on the east coast or other areas that have nothing  in their area in the database are getting a completely blank map (showing up grey with the google logo and such).  We need them to display their area with the regular map just as it would for Los Angeles but w/o the markers obviously as there isn't any locations in their area yet

 

We are days away from launching a the new site and this is a major feature of it....
