ChamberAnswers Posted April 14, 2010 at 07:48 PM Share Posted April 14, 2010 at 07:48 PM Give the thumbs up if you would like to see JReviews add GeoMapping Location aware and the new Points of Interest Twitter API JReviews and GeoMapping rocks!!!!! I just downloaded the latest version of JReviews and bought the GeoMapping add-on and not quite sure if this feature exists, but this makes sense to add if it is not already a feature in the GeoMapping add-on. I haven't had much sleep since the downloads, as my new site is transforming hourly with leaps and bounds new features that will appeal to local businesses and consumers. Can't wait to make the Listings and Reviews and GeoMapping features available in May 10. Give a Thumbs Up for this feature addition to GoeMapping add-on: Now that Twitter has acquired Mixer Labs — makers of the popular GeoAPI service and gives the company technology that is laying the foundation for the future of Twitter location services, Twitter announced that they will use the technology to roll out Local Trends. Since JReviews is already Geomapping aware, it would be a huge feature to allow a JReviews based sites to Tweet the users location and local trending topics from within the JReviews listings. It would be great to know where people are, by using the GeoMapping location aware API. Also it would be good to take advantage of the new Twitter Launching “Points of Interest” to Tie Tweets to Places. The feature doesn’t appear to be live yet, but soon users will have the ability to click on a place name — included in geotagged tweets — to view the particular place on a map. Next to the map, Twitter users will see a stream of nearby tweets, giving them a real-time view of what’s happening in a particular place at a particular time. Evan Williams asserts that Points of Interest is not meant to “duplicate the functionality of Foursquare (Foursquare) or Gowalla (Gowalla),” but instead to “make those services work better with Twitter … What we really care about is the content happening at that place.” So while Twitter has no plans to get into the checkin business per se, Points of Interest will make it easier for third party applications to support that type of functionality and it will enable Twitter to aggregate location-specific tweets. This would allow JReviews sites to have context to neighborhoods and put niche sites in a prime position to turn location-aware tweets into entities that possess tangible value.
