Improve Multiple Select Lists or similar feature

I have the problem that I use multiple select lists for all kinds of searchable keywords in my listings.  As this feature itself works quite well, there is the problem that the keyword list in the editor grows and grows and grows... after only 250 listings it has become a waste of time to look up if that keyword exists already!

 

I would like to see no Keywords, but an AJAX function that checks every letter and gives the existing keywords in the database as wannabees. Or instead, if you write out the full keyword, it just takes the one you wrote.

 

I use the same function for a lot of different text fields and that approach sucks every time! It is not usable in the long run! There needs to be some approach of a text field that can be added to without these crappy select lists!

 

It would be perfectly O.K. if there was a normal text field that could just be added another field to and still be searchable. Maybe even sorted by, because at the moment thats not a possibility (of course!)... but it would be a killer feature to sort listings by any specific field and section!
