Hot icon tag for articles - Based on short term popularity rather than hits?

Hi I was wondering if there is any way to set the hot button based on a timer. So if an article is being clicked on more than x number of times in a week then it becomes hot, rather than the absolute number of times it is clicked on. Because eventually all older articles become hot, but this does not reflect if the article stands out among the rest.
