How to Display Latest Listing by Publish Dates & by A Custom Date Field?

I want to use two Latest Listing modules to:
1) Display all new listings in a category submitted in the last 30 days.
WHY: This would allow my customers to view new listings only in a set period.

2) Display all listings in a category using a custom date field based on a date range from today up to the next 30 days.
WHY: This would allow my customers to view events that are coming up in the next 30 days and take action.

Using those methods allows the users greater focus on immediate time-based needs. Is this possible?
