I've been thinking about changing my image format from jpg to WebP.

I'm just wondering how this is accomplished and how it will affect the server load?

Does it change an image and its thumbnails on-the-fly whenever a specific image is requested?

Or does it run batches via cron?

I missed this: "Existing images will be automatically converted as pages on the site are visited."

So no reply necessary.
