Filter Module for Listings Module

I am trying to create a page that will display listings with Featured at top that show in a random order, then show the remaining listings below it in alphabetical order.  Since there aren't that many featured listings I placed the Listings Module at the top of the page (that shows Featured Random) above the Listings view page (custom where for pseudo category). However, if I select a field in the filter module, the listings that are within the Listings module don't get the filtering applied. For example: if there are 12 featured listings total and I select the checkbox for Pet Friendly, there are still 12 after filtering and there should be only 8. Is there a way for the filter module to apply to the Listings module?
