We all can see the problems with google maps at the moment and I think there were much easier methods to establish spam security in listing comments and reviews. I think about an easy question and answer system with questions that are free configurable. I.E. "Which color has a fire truck?" It seems to be not very complicate to integrate and makes us free from googles (next?) business model. This is the way I protect my forum at the moment with no spam results.
