Alejandro Posted August 31, 2018 at 02:39 PM Share Posted August 31, 2018 at 02:39 PM Hi, I am very pleased to let you know that the JReviews 3.1 stable version has been released! After many months of simultaneously working and releasing updates for three different versions of JReviews and add-ons (2.7, 3.0 and 3.1) this is a major milestone! JReviews 3.1 includes a major re-write of the media upload functionality to streamline development and make the upload process more secure. Some of the new features implemented for media uploads include: Local audio and video encoding using FFMPEG Local storage of audio and video files, regardless of the encoding service used Media storage on Rackspace Files and Digital Ocean Spaces in addition to Amazon S3 Twitch.tv video embedding through the media upload form It's important to note that local encoding through FFMPEG consumes a lot of resources and requires a powerful server. If you find that your server cannot keep up with the load imposed by simultaneous encoding processes, then you should consider using one of the three integrated cloud encoding services in JReviews. If you are using JReviews 3.0, you can upgrade to JReviews 3.1 using the remote updater. You can also find the download package in the client area. If you use overrides for customizations, you should definitely compare your modified files to the new files to make sure you bring them up to date. We always try to do the least amount of changes to theme files, but sometimes it's just unavoidable. Consider using a development site first to test the update. If you are using JReviews 2.7, you can follow the upgrade guide in the documentation. With the JReviews 3 stable release announcement last March it was also announced that the JReviews 2.7 end-of-life would be 6 months later at the end of September. That date is now around the corner. This means that there will no longer be any updates or support for JReviews 2.7 after that date. ACTION REQUIRED: JReviews 2.7 is reaching its end-of-life at the end of September. Please upgrade to JReviews 3.1 as soon as possible following the instructions in the documentation. Thanks for reading! Alejandro Link to comment
