Remember State and City

Any suggestions on how I could add the ability to display the users preferred state and city and maintain this throughout navigating my site?

 

I am building a national directory with multiple listing types.  I would prefer the user to select this once and use this info to automatically filter the results in different listing types.

 

This would also need to be something I would display at the top of every page so if a user wanted to change it for any reason, they easily could.
