Adjusting Default Zoom Level on Listing Detail View?

I find that on the individual listing's detail pages the geomap is too far zoomed in (screenshot attached). It displays just the low resolution geography directly around the listing, I want it to display the towns and cities nearby the listing.

 

I've searched around the forum and some older posts mentioned that fixing this requires hacking the Geomap.js file, is that still the case? If so what code do I want to use?

 

Or is there a more intuitive way to accomplish this?
