How does a user restart a subscription Plan once it has stopped

Scenario,

 

1) A user has a paid monthly subscription. they end it and the payment fails so the add-on will receives a notification and the listing expire. I assume the listing is now just put in an unpublished state?

 

2) Does the user receive any notification that their listing has gone and what they need to do if they want to restart it?

 

3) if they want to restart it lets say a month later how can they?

 

I am thinking that many of my customers will pay seasonally or want to take a break for payment in the slow months e.g. around Jan and Feb when weather is poor and business dries up, but will want it to be easy to come back.
