JReviews 2.4RC4 has been released!

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of JReviews 2.4 RC4 (2.4.5.3). The upgrade is available via remote update if you have installed a previous version of 2.4 and it is also available for download in the client area. You need a valid upgrades package.

 

An update for GeoMaps is also available to fix several issues mentioned in the changelog below.

 

What are the most important features and changes in 2.4 when compared to 2.3?. Read the JReviews 2.4 Feature Overview.

 

If you have overrides, you must first rename the overrides folder and clear the file registry. For those upgrading from a previous 2.4 version, you must always compare your overrides with the newer version to make sure your files are up to date.

Some important highlights for this version

 

1. We are not officially supporting Joomla 3.0. Many JReviews clients are already using JReviews 2.4 in Joomla 3.0 and we've fixed all of the bugs reported so far.

 

2. We added a new very cool feature that allows you to disable your overrides with a single setting. If you are making lots of changes and something stops working this will let you (and us) quickly figure out if the issue is a bug in JReviews or if it's coming from the overrides. The new setting can be found in the JReviews Configuration, General tab, Troubleshooting section.

 

3. A new Media upload method, "Upload from URL" is now available in the Media Upload form. This is different from video linking because it imports the target file into your own site and it works with photos, videos, audio and attachments. Grabbing photos from other sites to use in your own listings has never been easier! The new feature comes with an Access Setting so you can control which user groups have access to this upload method.

 

4. Additional information for media can be seen by manager user group and above when editing media. This will be especially useful for troubleshooting encoding issues for videos and audio uploads.

 

We fixed over 50 bugs for RC4 in additional to many improvements in the themes for better responsiveness and some other administration improvements. Please read the complete changelog below for more details. Very few reported bugs were not fixed in this version because we wanted to get it out as soon as possible. We also had to leave out some minor improvements we planned to make.
