Exchange interactive map in mobile theme with map-image

I think everybody agrees when I say that the geomap section in the modile theme (detail pages) doesn't work good on mobile phones. Why not replacing it with an map image (through the API too) - it does load faster, does need less traffic for the user and with a click on the map the corresponding map application could be opened on the phone.
