Trying to create city based on metro area but not working

I created a joomla category "california", and then created a "field group" for this category call "california metro areas" with a single select custom field assigned to it, and lastly I create a global jr_city field.....each option in my jr_city field is individually controlled my metro area custom field.

 

I hope this is not confusing...anyway, I see it does not work with geomaps because the custom field "metro area" does not show up on geomaps configuration...so the city option is deleted...and the city field is blank because it is controlled by jr_cametro, so the location of the listing on the map is off.

 

This is what I have...and would like to know if there is another solution:

 

State (joomla category)

Metro Area (custom field in a  field group just for that one joomla category)

City based on Metro Area single select list
