Alejandro Posted March 17, 2011 at 10:57 PM Share Posted March 17, 2011 at 10:57 PM We have great news. Beta 5 is here only two weeks after beta 4! We fixed all the reported bugs some of them involving the add-ons as well. If you have beta 4 installed you can upgrade remotely, otherwise download this version from the client area. Remember to upgrade the s2framework first, then JReviews and add-ons. In addition to bug fixing here are some of the highlights for this release: 1) JomSocial plugins have been updated for J1.6 compatibility 2) There's a new setting for Facebook integration to trim the text sent to the wall post 3) Field autocomplete has been extended to search forms, as an option that can be enabled in the field setup screen 4) A brand new interface was created for field autocomplete. Instead of using checkboxes when field options are selected you can now show the options as links which we think are easier to work with. You can still use checkboxes if you prefer that and the setting can be adjusted for each field. We've also added a setting to show the options above or below the autocomplete input. 5) Finally, what many have been waiting for is the brand new JReviews theme. Kristian has been working on this for a long time and it looks great. The theme is not too different from the current one visually because we wanted to keep some consistency. These are some of the main changes to the theme: Almost 100% tableless! Uses CSS3 for rounded corners and gradients. We removed the text images to make them more easily translatable. Uses a CSS sprite for the icons. More compact design of the user/editor review layout A much nicer thumbview layout! Simplified code for theme and CSS files. detail.thtml code was reduced by at least 50% by separating it into different theme files. All Listing Management links such as publish, feature, delete, etc. are now shown in a very nice dropdown menu for each listing. We still don't have a dark version of this theme, but we will publish one as soon as we have it ready. It will also be used as an example of how this theme can be more easily customized. We will be publishing and updating documentation on customizing the new theme as soon as possible. We are aware of some IE related issues that we will fix for the RC version. IMPORTANT: In this release the new theme is called "Default Theme Reloaded". In the next release we are going to completely drop the old default theme and replace it with this one. If you want to start using and testing the new theme you need to go to the Configuration=>General tab and select the "Default Theme Reloaded" option under Theme Settings for both the Site Theme and Fallback Theme settings. Because this is the first release of the new theme be aware that we most likely still be making changes to it. That means that if you start customizing it now you will most likely have to update it later. If possible, refrain from making tons of changes until the RC version is released and if you do make changes, use the JReviews Overrides feature to isolate the modified files. MOVING FORWARD The question everyone asks is when is JReviews 2.3 stable going to be released. While we cannot give an exact date, the next release will be RC1, already suitable for production sites! That should be out in about 1-2 weeks and the stable version shouldn't be too far behind. In order to do that features are frozen for 2.3, meaning we are not going to add a single feature more before the stable version is released. [tt]2.3 Beta 5 Changelog +New: Default Theme Reloaded.
