JReviews 2.3 Beta 4 has landed!

After a couple of weeks of very hard work we are very pleased to announce the immediate availability of JReviews 2.3 Beta 4. This version brings a ton of bug fixes, but most importantly it also brings some performance improvements and very cool new features.

 

IMPORTANT: Due to some important code changes related to the performance improvements, this beta needs to be downloaded from the client area and installed via the Joomla installer. If you made customizations, back them up first! You can still upgrade the add-ons using the remote updater.

 

Let's start with the new features:

 

1) Related Listing field. The ability to create listing relationships has been requested many times. The most obvious examples are Events related to Venues, Albums to Artists, etc. With this field you'll be able to easily find and select a Related Listing when submitting a listing. When displayed the field will show the listing title hyper-linked to the listing. Here's a screenshot of the new field setup page:

2) Detail page widgets. In Listing Types you can now setup many different types of widgets for showing related listings in detail pages. Following the above example you can show events for a venue in the venue detail page in no time. Take a look at the detail widgets tabs:

 

 

Now lets talk about the performance improvements. We spent some time profiling the code to find bottlenecks and according to some benchmarks we run we were able to speed up JReviews by over 20% in some pages! We hope you are able to notice these improvements on your sites.

 

Finally, here's the complete changelog which includes all bug fixes for this release. Thank you all for your patience. We won't be making any more drastic changes after this beta so it shouldn't take that long for a stable version.

#Fixed: Single select Multiple select conversion in adv. search module not working.

#Fixed: J1.6 only - Category image not used even when enabled in config/images tab.

#Fixed: GeoMaps Add-on Module - when assigned to non-JReviews article pages ignore the detail page settings and show all markers.

#Fixed: In modules listings in categories outside the current user's access group still appear.

#Fixed: Listings Module: Featured random mode not working.

#Fixed: PaidListings: duplicate width attribute for listings in MyAccount page.

#Fixed: Unpublished categories showing up in submit listing form.

#Fixed: Related listings element call not working. Possible affects custom where setting in listings module as well.

#Fixed: Registered group users can't edit their custom fields, admins yes.

#Fixed: PaidListings Add-on - Paypal subscription renewal payments not automatically updating the order + listing expiration.

#Fixed: PaidLstings Add-on - when switching between categories when submitting a listing if the previous categories was a subcategory the new category is not properly recognized and the wrong paid plans are displayed.

#Fixed: In J15, when submitting a listing if the section is changed the form continues to be displayed for the previously selected category.
