Hybrid simple search/advanced search capability

I copy and pasted from another forum question, I think this would be a very useful feature:

 

 

Is it possible to create a 'hybrid' search module (custom module pasting in html) that uses the advanced search module to perform the radius search combined with the simple search module to search custom fields?

 

(As I understand the simple search keywords can search custom fields but the advanced search keywords doesnt)
