Performance Issues GeoMaps

I'm about to release a site which uses the GeoMaps plugin to display 5'000 locations worldwide.

 

To have this map loaded, ca. 2 MB of data-transfer takes place.

 

the rest of the page-load stalls until this data is loaded after it continues.

 

I'm willing to Pay for a fix in which:

• The whole page is loaded with an empty map and some kind of "loading data" with progress bar
  
• After the whole page is loaded the map starts to load and progress bar indicates how much to go
  

 

this would be a great upgrade for GeoMaps - but again, I'm willing to pay after which it can be made available for all as an upgrade.
