Google API & running geomaps on localhost

I'm starting to develop a new site and am using geomaps for the first time. I have jreviews/geomaps installed on xampp and generated a google maps API key for the domain:

 

http://localhost

 

But it doesn't seem to be working and the geomaps module says "we are sorry, we don't have maps at this zoom level for this region...."

 

Have I missed something, or can geomaps not be used on a local server?
