pabalosa1 Posted June 14, 2010 at 12:12 AM Share Posted June 14, 2010 at 12:12 AM hi Need some help understanding how it works.... The proximity search will search through the field tag designated in advanced_search.html ( in my case Ive set it as the address field 'jr_addressandno' , which I've attached to all listings - currently anyway ). ?? So this means that the search results will come from all listings that have that designated search field attached to it ( which is all of them ), and not just the listings that are in the same category as the item listing being proximity searched around ?? is that right ? If that is correct, can the proximity searches be set up to search just the category that the displayed item ( which is when I would see a user doing this kind of search ) is in ? As an example this is a listing detail page for 'food swaps' category : http://bluesgreenmate.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&catid=47:vic&id=71:bullen-art-and-garden-centre-vegie-swap-meet if you enter the displayed address field for this listing, to find listings of a similar category: 6 manningham rd in the proximity search input found halfway down the left column inside the "quick search" module, and select a radius of 10kms or more... ..you get a search results page that also includes farmers market listings ( which are not in the food swap category ) http://bluesgreenmate.com/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=&url=search-results/query:all/jr_streetandno:6+manningham+rd/jr_radius:10/jr_latrev:-37.7609540/jr_lonrev:145.0815830/order:distance I'm assuming I just need some help with field association and setting up.....but I'm cloudy on how to do this so far. thanks again, P Link to comment
