Is there a way to hide a category from search and directory page?

Hello,

Looking to hide a category from advanced search, directory page etc. Did a few searches to not come up with anything but thought it was discussed in the past.

What I have is a fully developed category for a userprofiles category with listing type, fields, fieldgroups etc, menu items, category, paidlistings plans etc. I can hide menus, category, profile type, to not display with permissions. The issue is I cannot hide the category from advanced search cat selection or from directory page. Is there a way to do this?

The reason for this is its already finished but decided not to use this profile and category until a later date. Did not want to delete all the work in order to have it not visible on the site.
