Install & Upgrades page broken in localhost install after upgrade

Problem: You upgraded your localhost installation to the latest version, but now the remote install & upgrades page displays errors or just doesn't show the latest version information.

Solution: Update your CA root certificate bundle as described here http://nl3.php.net/manual/en/function.curl-setopt.php#110457

Download the one at the curl website and save it on your server:

Then set a path to it in your php.ini file, e.g. on Windows:

curl.cainfo=c:\php\cacert.pem

The problem happens because when we moved from reviewsforjoomla.com to jreviews.com we also switched to using SSL on the entire domain (100% of pages) and your localhost server has outdated certificates preventing it from communicating securely with our server.

We thank TomH for figuring out the issue and providing the solution in this topic.
